How we collect, use and protect your information when you visit our website, get in touch or work with us.

Who we are

Primate Social (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides video strategy, video creation and content distribution for businesses and experts. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. It applies to our website, to anything you send us when you get in touch, and to our client portal and services if you become a client.

If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at contact@primatesocial.com.

Information we collect

When you contact us. If you fill in our “Get Your Free Analysis” form or email us, we collect your name, email address, mobile phone number (and country code), your website or Instagram, how you found us, the kind of help you are interested in, how many videos you need each month, and anything else you choose to tell us.

When you become a client. We collect the details needed to work with you and set up your account, such as your name, company, email address, timezone and sign-in details. We also receive the content you send us for your projects, including video footage, photos, audio, written briefs and feedback or revision notes on your videos.

Connected social accounts. If you connect a social media account so we can schedule and publish videos for you, we receive the account name and the access permissions needed to post on your behalf. We do not see your social media passwords.

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit. We use it to keep the site secure and working properly.

How we use your information

We will only send you marketing emails if you have asked for them, and every one will include a way to opt out.

Our legal basis

Where privacy laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: your consent (for example when you submit a form); performing a contract with you or taking steps at your request before a contract; our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, where these are not outweighed by your rights; and compliance with legal obligations.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need to. These include website hosting, email delivery, cloud file storage, and the social media platforms you ask us to publish to. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our clients or others.

Anything you send us for your project is used only to deliver your project.

Social media platforms

When we publish for you, the content and captions you have approved are sent to the platforms you connected (for example Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook). Those platforms have their own privacy policies and terms. You can disconnect an account at any time in the portal or in that platform’s settings.

International transfers

We work with clients all over the world, so your information may be handled in a country other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards so that your information keeps a suitable level of protection.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Client account details and project records are kept while we work together and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal, tax and record-keeping purposes. Raw footage and project files are kept for a limited time after delivery so we can handle further edits, and we will delete them on request. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see your rights below).

Keeping information secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of storing or transmitting data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email contact@primatesocial.com. We may need to confirm who you are first.

Cookies

Our website only uses what it needs to work. If we add analytics or marketing tools in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent. Videos or other content from third parties embedded on our pages (for example YouTube) may set their own cookies when you play them.

Children

Our website and services are for businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make important changes, we will let our clients know directly.
